Our Commitment to Sustainability

There was a commercial that aired recently where a high powered executive type invites a young businesswoman into his office.  He skeptically intones something to the effect of "Get on with this, but I want to go ahead and let you know that you are wasting my time."  The young woman gets right down to the point with " If we institute these measures we can cut our waste dramatically, demonstrate our commitment to the environment, reduce our costs by 40% and increase our bottom line."  On this note the executive perks up in a hurry.

Per USPAP guidelines, appraisal files must be accessible to the appraiser for 5 years following the effective date of the appraisal.  Most appraisers print their files and then store them following completion.  A typical appraisal file usually includes dozens of printed pages.  Some could include several hundred or more.  Over time this builds up to a quite significant use of paper and toner, and significant costs in terms of storage.

At Comp One Appraisal Services, we have developed an all paperless workfile system.  We print the workfile directly to a PDF and then save it with the appraisal report using A La Mode's Vault system.  This system enables us to drastically cut down on our use of paper and toner saving thousands in costs.  Also, its nice to think that we are saving a few trees in the process.
